WIP Wednesday Linky #7

Hey! It’s beginning to look a lot like January! My Christmas tree and decorations have all been taken down and packed away. I even took down my blog’s Christmas colors. The holidays are fun and all, but I’m always eager to put them behind me and get back to normal. I feel like I can finally take a deep breath and relax. : )

Anyway, here’s what I’m up to …

Ongoing Projects:
Urban Lattice Quilt Along. Someday, I would love to make a plan and stick with it. Just one time: Make plan, buy fabric, and execute said plan, with no changes. Is that too much to ask? But of course, since I had a ridiculously long time to think about my Urban Lattice Quilt before actually starting it, I just couldn’t leave well enough alone.

The most urgent project on my list right now is the girl counterpart to my Modern Meadow Baby Quilt. One of these two quilts will go to a surprise-gender baby due in February, so I need to get moving on the girly one. It suddenly occurred to me that the Urban Lattice design would be a great choice for this project. That means the couch quilt I was planning to make for myself in this quilt-along has been back-burned in favor of a baby Urban Lattice in Far Far Away 2. But I’m modifying the design a bit, because I really want to showcase those adorable Heather Ross prints. I shrank the block down to 8″ finished instead of 12″, and my solid background strips are a lot narrower.

So far I’ve only made one block, so I’m having a hard time picturing how this will look when it’s done. I really hope I like it. The FFA2 is already cut, so I’m kinda committed now. My background strips are Kona Bone and the lattice strips are Kona Stone.

Completed tops awaiting quilting:
Hope Valley quilt
Modern Meadow Baby Quilt
Fall Equinox (Fat Quarterly quilt-along quilt)

Still didn’t do anything with these:
That Girl quilt-along
Figgy Pudding quilt
Wonky Log Cabin

This week’s stats:
New projects – 0
Completed projects – 1
Currently in progress – 7 (down one from last week)

But enough about me—let’s see your post-holiday WIPs! Link up below. Just remember to link back to me, and comment on the other links!

I love the way the baby quilt version block turned out! I want to see more! That block is really making me want to do the quilt along too. Hmmmm……

Thanks for the link up! It is always fun!

I like where you're going with your FFA2 baby quilt! I adore those prints, they're so pretty. How are you liking the lattice so far? I really like that Kona Stone, I haven't used that before…

My experience has been that I go through lots of moments of doubt putting the lattice blocks together. It isn't until I have like nine blocks done and can lay it out that I start to feel better about my choices. That said, I think yours will be LOVELY!

I couldn't agree with you more about Christmas! I ususally try to wait until after the new year, but I am taking my trimmings down today!! I am eager to start 2011!

I love what you are doing with the Urban Lattice quilt. Of course you can't go wrong with FFA2! I am still in the choosing fabric stage, but I am looking forward to starting this one.

    Thanks for the link up!

Your FFA2 baby girl quilt is going to be lovely!

I did have my girls take the ornaments off the tree and it will be gone tonight, but… I am leaving the mics stuff out because it matches my Chirstmas quilt and I can't bear to put it away yet.

I love where your Urban Lattice quilt is going…and don't worry about changing your mind…sticking to a "plan" is boring. I think in the end you will be very happy with your decision. Besides totally loving your choice in fabrics.
