Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe includes 19 quilt patterns from bloggers like myself. The book represents a wide range of “modern” quilting styles and viewpoints—not unlike the online community itself. I think it’s a great little collection of patterns, with something to appeal to quilters of all skill levels and styles.
There are also mini profiles of each of the blogger/designers with our thoughts on blogging and modern quilting. It’s really an honor for me to be included among the talented and inspiring bloggers in this group, and to see one of my patterns not just in print, but in a book! After my “What is Modern Quilting” lecture a few weeks ago, someone brought a copy up to me and I got to do my first book signing ever! I think I was a whole lot more excited about it than she was. : )
I named it that because the design and colors reminded me of those candy necklaces we used to have as kids. It’s a classic block design, transformed by the fact that the blocks are in a chain formation, and every other block is elongated to give it a little added interest. And it uses quarter-square triangles—if you’ve ever done half-square triangles, quarter-squares will be no problem for you either!
