My Summer Sampler 2016 quilt is done!

I’m really happy with how it turned out … which more or less looks like the mock-up you all saw at the beginning of the quilt-along. : )

I finished it off with some straight-line quilting. I don’t know what I was thinking when I put those lines so close together, but it’s done now! And as usual, I bound it in the same color as the background. I just love that look, so nice and clean.

So with that, the Summer Sampler 2016 quilt-along is finished, but not to worry, you can still make the quilt! Click here to purchase the pattern—now that the quilt-along is complete, everyone who buys the pattern will get full, immediate access to all 20 block patterns. And within the next week or two, Katie and Faith and I are planning to put all of the blocks together into one PDF for your convenience. All previous buyers will get access to that combined PDF when it’s released.

I want to thank all of you who purchased a Summer Sampler subscription and quilted along with us! It was loads of fun. It’s hard to believe these 20 weeks have already come and gone—I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with myself now!

I’m always amazed at how much I love the colors others choose. They are colors that I would never, never choose. Some of them are colors that are not in my comfort zone and I end up loving them when I see someone else put them together. That’s part of the fun of sharing quilts. Of course, I think I’m my own worst critic, too! I love the quilting, too. I know it was a ton of work and it is worth the time and effort you expended. I know you feel at loose ends right now and something will soon fill that void. I had a huge non-quilting project that filled my time for over a year and now that it’s over, I’m searching for my purpose in life. Even though I know some of the reasons, I’m still a very big void, because that project was very consuming not only in terms of time but also emotions. Your quilt is beautiful and inspiring.

So gorgeous! This was the color scheme that pulled me into wanting to make this quilt. I ended up not using these colors, but I love them so much! I can’t wait to get my blocks sashed together and finished up. 🙂

Did you measure the quilt lines, or do it by eye, or use some sort of tool? It looks so straight forward and fresh – but suspect its not that easy!

Hi Sheena – I put one piece of masking tape across the middle of the quilt on a 45-degree angle, and used that as a guide to get myself started. After that, I used the guide on my walking foot to evenly space the rest of the lines out from that first one. Hope that helps! : )
