WIP Wednesday: The Blue Chair edition
I was excited when Lee asked me to guest-post this week for WIP Wednesday. I'm Kati, and I blog over at from the blue chair.I am the mom to three kiddos: three-year-old twins (Little Dude and Miss A) as well as a five-year-old daughter (Miss C). I'm also a "retired" social worker as well as the wife to a sweet husband. I currently stay home with our kiddos and try to manage the chaos that is our life. I started quilting during my free-time when the kiddos were tiny and all napped at the same time. We no longer have naps, but I still try to squeeze in my sewing time to maintain my sanity. My blog is named for my sewing chair that I refurbished.
With an impromptu vacation to my mom's house due to a broken AC unit, I actually got a bit done this past week. I took my sewing machine and sewed as late as I wanted after the kiddos went to bed. First off I turned these stacks of fabric into these bags!
I used the Jane Market Bag pattern again. It has become a favorite. These guys just need handles now. It's really fun having a stack of bags on hand that are perfect for a simple gift when you need it. I do have a few favorites in the stack...they might find their way into my closet instead.
I finished sewing my HST Flea Market Fancy quilt top. Now I'm just debating on a design for the back.
I've also made some fun progress on my Heather Ross quilt. I wanted to keep this design simple to focus on the fussy cut prints. All the solids are Pure Elements from Art Gallery. I really like how this one is coming along. I'm planning to make it 5 blocks x 7 blocks. I'm just working on it as I have time. I think I'll back it with some grey minky I have on hand, and it will possibly be my favorite quilt all winter long.
Finally, this WIP is starting to take shape. I asked the ladies in two of my quilt bees to send me grey and yellow paper pieced stars. I've received four so far and have made two of my own. I'm so excited to see it slowly come together. This is not a quilt I would have expected myself to make even just a year ago. I love the mix of the modern color scheme and the very traditional paper-pieced stars. I can't wait until this one takes over my design wall.
And that, my friends, is what I have been working on lately! What have you been up to? Here are the linky rules:
1. Link up any post from the past week that features at least one unfinished work-in-progress (WIP)
2. Somewhere in your post, link back here to my blog. (Or grab my WIP Wednesday button for your sidebar.)
3. Comment on at least a few of the other links—because what fun is a linky party without comments?
