WIP Wednesday: With guest host Leigh Anne from Ella's Cottage
Hi everyone! My name is Leigh Anne and I blog at Ella's Cottage. I've been following Freshly Pieced for several years now and WIP Wednesday is one of the must-read blog posts in my reader. So you can imagine my reaction when Lee put out the call for guest posters. My heart started pounding as I frantically sent the email volunteering, hoping desperately that I would be chosen. And when I was chosen, it was like Christmas, LOL.

When I first started blogging, I had one or two WIPs at a time. It was all very manageable and I didn't even have a method for tracking them. Why would I need that? I could see them sitting on my workstation. It didn't take long for the internet inspiration bug to hit, though. I started adding more projects and bouncing between them. Then I started buying books and patterns, not to mention my Pinterest quilt board. I would have a brilliant idea for a quilt while running or getting my teeth cleaned. The new ideas far outpaced my time to quilt. And I needed a resource for keeping track of my WIPs. If you are feeling like your list of projects is too long, or you just need a laugh, head over and take a gander at my Master WIP list!
But even though my plans are grand, I still mostly work on 2-3 quilts in a given week. This week I have two projects filling my workstation.
The first is a hexagon baby quilt. Originally my deadline for this quilt was early March when I planned on visiting the recipient in California. As of Sunday, my trip was changed to February 18th, which means I need to get busy! I am machine piecing the hexagons using this tutorial by Kati at From the Blue Chair. The fabrics are Marie Antoinette by Northcott and Minimalista by Art Gallery.
The second is more aptly described as my current obsession. I want to lock myself in my sewing space and not come out until this quilt is finished. I find myself sneaking downstairs when I should be going to bed to piece just a few more strips. I am making this with a QAYG method described by Maureen Cracknell. And I am using nothing but scraps. Even the batting is off-cuts from other quilts. I have a secret goal of using up all of my scraps in 2014; fueled, I am sure, by my fabric fast! This may be the first quilt I start and finish without a long hiatus in the middle!
And of course, don't forget to link up your WIPs, too! Here are the linky rules:
1. Link up any post from the past week that features an unfinished work-in-progress (WIP).
2. Somewhere in your post, you must link back here to my blog.
3. Comment on at least a few of the other WIP Wednesday links—commenting on the two or three links directly before yours works well to make sure everyone gets comments!
