WIP Wednesday: Sewtopiated
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are making as much progress on your to-do lists as I am! Yay for productivity. 😊 I think it's thanks to a wonderful weekend spent hanging out at the Drake Hotel in Chicago for Sewtopia. I had such a great time at this retreat! If you have a chance to go to one in the future, I can't recommend it enough. (The Sewtopia crew just announced that the next one will be in Atlanta! Woot!) I roomed with Angela and Faith, and the three of us had waaaaay too much fun together. It was simultaneously exhausting and refreshing. : )
The weekend included classes with a couple of truly amazing and inspiring ladies—Rita of Red Pepper Quilts and Latifah of Latifah Saafir Studios. I wasn't sure I would ever get a chance to meet Rita, since she comes all the way from Australia, so I feel lucky to have taken a class with her, and she is so adorable, sweet, and talented! We learned her Kansas Dugout quilt block, which includes lots of Y-seams, but came together surprisingly well.
With Latifah, we made her fabulous Molehills quilt. Curves aren't exactly my thing, but again, the blocks came together so much more easily than I expected! Latifah is an amazing teacher—please take a class from her if you have the opportunity. My favorite thing about both of this weekend's classes was that the projects were way outside of my comfort zone, so I probably would not have been willing to tackle them on my own.
Hopefully you'll be seeing more of my versions of both of these after Quilt Market is done and I finally have time for some "me" sewing again.
And what are you working on? Let's see it!
