Summer Sampler 2018: Fish Rack Block
Well, today's the day—we're making the very last Summer Sampler 2018 block! And it's a striking one: "Fish Rack" by Daisy Aschehoug of Warm Folk.
This is such a beautiful block, inspired by a really cool art installation in Daisy's home country of Norway. I think this design is just dripping with clean, modern Scandinavian sensibility, don't you?
And yes ... let's add our last little star to our Summer Sampler 2018 world map! We're getting a Scandinavian fix on our last stop before we head for home. Wow, is our world tour really done? Such a bummer, but fall means it's time to get back to reality, right? Luckily, if you haven't set off on your own Summer Sampler 2018 journey yet, you totally still can. Click here to pick up the pattern!
Hey, how about one last tip to wrap things up for the summer? This video shows one of my very favorite paper-piecing tips—it's a sanity-saving tip that will help you avoid the frustration of tearing out stitches due to misplaced fabric during paper-piecing!
This tip is extra helpful while piecing Fish Rack, which has some funky angles that require carefully placed fabric pieces. If you fold back the paper template (as shown in the photo above), the folded back paper shows you exactly where to place your next piece so that you don't miss any of the area you need to cover! Yay!

Next Monday is the final release of Summer Sampler 2018: The finishing instructions! So then we'll get to admire everybody's FINISHED quilts, right? 😊Until next time!
