Perfect HST Sampler Block 2: Wellington Star
Happy February, you guys! I admit I’m glad to put January in the rearview, especially after last week’s -50 degree temps and days and days of the kids being home from school due to the snow and cold. February feels just the tiniest bit closer to spring—maybe not a lot closer, but I’ll take it!
At any rate, February’s block for the Perfect HST BOM dropped this morning for subscribers! This is Wellington Star—named after one of the streets I lived on in Chicago in the early 2000’s. My husband and I spent a few of our pre-parenting years living in Lakeview, on Wellington between Clark and Broadway. Every morning, I walked west to the Wellington El stop for my commute to work, and every evening I walked east to take my dog for a romp in Lincoln Park and along the lakefront. Such fun years in a beautiful city, and great inspiration for this month’s block.

Wellington Star is a fun, modern take on a star block that I think you’ll enjoy putting together. And it’s great seeing the colors start to come together now that we have more than one block done. Honestly, some of the color combinations I’m using within the individual blocks look a little strange to me on their own (that’s especially the case for this block). But when all of the blocks are together in the finished quilt, they really sing!
